FOLLOWING THE MONEY IN HARRISBURG

You are represented in Harrisburg by two people, your State Senator and your State Representative.  Information about who is giving money to your representative is available on-line but there is no single site giving up-to-date, cumulative, easy to understand information.

Here are three approaches to finding information:

HOW TO SEARCH USING - National Institute on Money in State Politics

HOW TO SEARCH USING Pa. Department of State - Campaign Finance Report Search

HOW TO SEARCH USING Pa. Department of State - Campaign Finance Contribution Search

Keep in mind that some of the money paid to politicians campaigns is "washed" of the contributor's actual identity.  This money may be sent through a fundraising committee controlled by another politician, or through a political party or through a Political Action Committee.  Then it is sent on to the candidate.  Some incumbents have even set up "charities" to employ their campaign workers as a way to disguise payments from lobbyists.

NOT SURE WHICH DISTRICTS YOU LIVE IN?
If you are not sure which districts you live in, click here, then enter your zip code at the top right corner of the page.  You will then see names of the incumbent State Senator and State Representative.  Then, return to this page to see where they are getting their money.
